Air Similan places order for 2 Boeing 777-300ER

Paris, January 6th, 2022 | Air Similan had reached an agreement with Boeing in August 2020 for the purchase of 4 Boeing 787-9. However, due to the constraints of the Covid-19 pandemic, the French airline was unable to take delivery of these four aircrafts; only two of them were received: it was at the end of 2020 for entry into service at the beginning of 2021.

Over a year later, Air Similan was able to modify its previous order. With a view to continuing to perfect its modern fleet made up to date of 6 Airbus A320 (including 3 retrofitted with Sharklets), 6 Boeing 737-800 and 2 Boeing 787-9, Air Similan is pleased to announce today the replacement of the 2 Boeing 787-9 not delivered by two Boeing 777-300ER which will allow a real revival of long-haul and ultra-long-haul flights, at a time when customers wish to travel again.

The Boeing 777-300ER is one of the most fuel-efficient and economical long-haul aircraft with 99.5% reliability, making it one of the most reliable dual-aisle aircraft in the world. Powered by two General Electrics GE90-115B turbojets – the most powerful aircraft engine in the world – the 777-300ER can carry up to 386 passengers in a typical three-class configuration for nearly 14,000 kilometers non-stop. The 777 will undoubtedly delight our passengers with a large, spacious and comfortable cabin.

The two Boeing 777-300ER ordered by Air Similan will be configured to accommodate 352 passengers in a three-class configuration, with 36 seats of a latest generation Business class configured in 1-2-1 allowing each passenger direct access to the aisles. This Business class will be equipped with flat beds as well as large high-definition IFE screens. The airline's “triple sevens” will also have 52 seats in Premium Economy and 264 seats in economy class. Learn more about the configuration of our Boeing 777-300ER

The installation on this aircraft of such a large Premium Economy class (52 seats in the future 777s, unlike only 28 in the current 787-9), in a 2-4-2 configuration, will allow more of our passengers to experience and appreciate during their travel many additional benefits, such as 50% more legroom, more personal and purposeful service, increased baggage allowance, amenity kit, larger individual screen, welcome drink, menu at the menu and dishes served on porcelain dishes, priority check-in and boarding, access to lounges at the airport...

Air Similan will continue, thanks to these two aircraft, to spread French culture throughout the world through the names that will be attributed to them: “Paris” for the first one (F-MFYA) and “Marseille” for the second one (F-MFYB).

Passengers will be able to fly aboard one of these 777-300ER from Paris CDG to brand new Air Similan destinations. The new network will be unveiled upon receipt of the first aircraft, very soon.
